The Mauritius Museums Council, a body corporate under the aegis of the Ministry of Arts and Culture, was
established by the Mauritius Museums Council Act No. 3 of 2000 to replace the
Mauritius Institute. It is managed by the Mauritius Museums Board. The Mauritius
Museums Council has two National and seven Specialised museums under its
purview.

The Mauritius museums Council organised several activities to mark this
important event.
An exhibition of Large panels on SSR was displayed on rails along Chaussee
street, Port louis, at the Naval Museum, Mahebourg and at the Sir Seewoosagur
Ramgoolam Botanic Garden at Pamplemosses in November 2011 .
On the occasion of Chinese New Year 2012 - An Exhibition on ' China in the Eyes
of African Artists\' at Mauritius Institute Building, Chaussée, Port
Louis.
